Terasasta krajina

(1) Ta oblika rabe tal se odraža v terasah, z namenom da se maksimizira obsijanost s soncem. Terase so značilne za celotno Sredozemlje. Tipične rastline: vinska trta, oljke in sadno drevje (2) Starost obdelovalnih teras je težko določiti. Nekaj jih je znanih iz bronaste dobe, iz klasične Grčije pa  je več arheoloških dokazov. Koliko so bile razširjene, je še vedno zelo nezanesljivo.

Terasasta kmetijska krajina vključuje travnike in polja, prav tako pa umetno ustvarjene terase za gojenje vinske trte in sadnega drevja. Ne vključuje pa: umetno ustvarjene terase kot posledice rudarjenja in odlaganja odpadkov ali vlažnih travnikov v hribovitih regijah, ki imajo prav tako terasast izgled, Wölbäcker/Bifang, prav tako ne infrastrukturnih teras ( npr. cest, nasipov, objektov), mikroteras človeškega ali živalskega izvora.
